Let's Roll

In the matter of the Obama administration mandate forcing Catholic employers to pay for birth control, sterilization and abortifacient drugs, I am so grateful that the Catholic Church is making a firm stand against this unconstitutional action.  I read today that EWTN and Priests for Life have filed lawsuits against the Obama administration over this mandate.  I’m sure there are others who have done the same thing and the list will grow.

There are many who are standing with us  – Christian and Jew – and other religious groups and Christian denominations.  Two examples that I noticed today are Rick Warren and Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, both saying that they will not comply and will go to jail.  "We want the law changed, or else we’re going to write our letters from the Nashville jail, just like Dr. King wrote his from the Birmingham jail," Dr. Land said.

Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, President of the Missouri Lutheran Synod, added his voice:  “The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod objects to the use of drugs and procedures that are used to take the lives of unborn children, who are persons in the sight of God from the time of conception,” wrote Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, in a statement issued February 3rd.

This reminds me of the Bible verse, Genesis 50:20: "Even though you meant harm to me, God meant it for good, to achieve this present end, the survival of many people.

This persecution of Catholics by the Obama administration may be a blessing, and I praise God.  I wonder if this present situation will rally people of faith to such a degree that it will bring about the end of legal abortion - thus the survival of many people.  Thus the survival of this country as truly God will not allow us to survive as the great nation we have been if we continue in the slaughter of the innocent.

We have much to pray about, beginning with the stand that the bishops, priests, EWTN and Priests for Life are taking.  I’m sure this list will grow.  The sleeping giant is arousing from its slumber.  Let us pray that the Church militant win this battle.

Please remember that although the headlines continue to focus on the word contraception, the issues are much bigger than this.  The issues are religious freedom, freedom of speech and our way of life.
